The nine first generation SOFIA instruments cover the wavelenght range from 0.3 to 655 microns with spectral resolution up to 10^8. These instruments are designed to support the key SOFIA science objectives of understanding star and planet formation, understanding our solar system, investigating the structure and composition of the interstellar medium, and understanding the structure and composition of nearby galaxies. This poster briefly describes the nine first-generation instruments, their production status, their scheduled for availability by the scientific community, and their scientific objectives. |
